Booking and payment – how does it work exactly?

You have two simple options:

1. Direct booking:
Using the guides on our website, you can book your car directly on our partner’s website. Use the VAMOS5 coupon code to get a 5% discount on the final price.

2. Request an offer via form:
Fill in the quote request form and we’ll send you the best offers already calculated with the discount. If you like one of them, we’ll handle the booking with our partner for you.

Payment:
You pay on the spot when you pick up the car, in cash or by bank card.

Can I book a guaranteed car model?

A specific model is never guaranteed, but Auto Canhas will always guarantee the same or a higher category. If your chosen model isn’t available at pick-up, you’ll receive a car from at least the same, or a better, category at no extra cost.

Do I need a credit card or deposit to rent a car?

No, you don’t need either a credit card or a deposit to rent a car.

Payment is simple and flexible: when you pick up the car, you can pay on-site in cash, by bank card, or even with Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Is there full insurance with the rental? What exactly does it cover?

Yes, you can rent a car with full insurance.

If you choose the „Addicional Isnurance” package, the insurance covers all damage, including wheels, windscreen and mirrors.

What is the €500 Car4YouMadeira guarantee and what does it cover?

The €500 Car4YouMadeira guarantee gives you extra protection with every booking.

If you use the VAMOS5 coupon code, or if we handle the booking for you, your booking is automatically covered by this guarantee.

What does it cover?
– If you can’t pick up the car because your flight is delayed (e.g. taxi and accommodation costs)
– Fines or fees that you didn’t cause
– Unjustified extra charges applied by the rental company

This way you can be sure that there are no unpleasant surprises – we’ve got your back and cover unexpected costs up to €500.

Can I rent a car for just 1 or 2 days?

At Auto Canhas the minimum rental period is 2 days, so you can book a car for at least 2 days.

How far in advance should I book to get the best price?

At Auto Canhas the prices are the same: renting a car costs the same whether you book 1 year before arrival or 1 day before.

That’s why the timing of your booking is important not because of the price, but because of availability – the earlier you book, the better the chance that your ideal category will still be available.

Booking can be cancelled free of charge, so you can safely reserve your car well in advance with zero risk.

Where can I pick up or drop off the car?

You can pick up and drop off the car at several locations:

What happens if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed, the car rental company will wait for you.

If you know you’ll be more than 2 hours late or you’ll arrive on a different flight, it’s a good idea to let them know via WhatsApp or email. If you provided your flight number, the rental company will also track your flight, so they’ll know your exact arrival time.

Arriving outside opening hours (due to delay): if the delay is already foreseeable, send a WhatsApp message to Auto Canhas – late evening/night pick-up can be arranged for an extra fee.

If, because of the delay, you can’t pick up the car at all, our €500 guarantee covers the taxi costs to your accommodation and back to the rental office the next morning.
