The Auto Canhas office is just 2 minutes from the airport, and a free shuttle is provided with every booking.
At peak times, when many passengers arrive at once, the shuttle first takes the drivers to the rental cars. They then drive back to the airport to collect their travel companions, so the others only need to wait at the terminal. It's a well-established, quick and convenient solution for everyone.
Auto Canhas delivers the car to the address given at booking, anywhere on the island – whether a hotel or an apartment.
In the morning hours, the pick-up time you specified is indicative and, due to the peak period, may vary by 30–90 minutes. Auto Canhas does everything it can to arrive as soon as possible, so it's best not to plan anything fixed around the pick-up.
You don't have to wait at your accommodation – feel free to go for a walk or sit down in a café. The driver will call you before arriving to confirm the exact address.
If you want to return the car in the early hours, first check whether anyone is at the office. If it's closed and nobody is there (usually before 8 a.m.), you can simply go to the P7 Low Cost car park and leave the car there.
Remember: return the car with the same amount of fuel as when you picked it up.

Yes, of course you can rent a car for just 1 or 2 days.
It's important to know, though, that in high season it's worth booking in advance, to secure a better price and the availability of the car.
In our experience, it's best to book your car 1–3 months before your trip.
If you try to book too early (6–12 months ahead), that period is often not yet priced, so prices may be higher.
At Auto Canhas you can choose between two options:
Airport pick-up: a free shuttle takes you from the terminal to their office, which is just 2 minutes from the airport.
Delivery: they bring the car anywhere on the island, to a hotel or an apartment. Provide the exact address when booking. Delivery is available for rentals of at least 3 days.
If your flight is delayed, Auto Canhas will wait for you.

The specific car model is not guaranteed – but the category is.
When booking, you always choose a car category (for example “Economy manual” or “Compact automatic”), not a specific make or model. The model shown on the Auto Canhas website is just an example – the actual car can be any vehicle of similar size and equipment within that category.

Drivers between 21 and 70 can rent without restrictions.
Under 21 or over 70: the rental requires prior arrangement, in which case Auto Canhas approves the booking individually. Write to us and we'll sort it out.
