If you choose the “Rent with Insurance” package, the insurance covers all damage, including wheels, windscreen and mirrors.

The base price includes full insurance (bodywork, theft protection). For an extra 10 € per day you can extend it to cover the windscreen, mirrors and tyres as well.

Auto Canhas:
The base price includes full insurance for the bodywork. For an extra 5 € per day you can add additional cover for wheels, windscreen and mirrors.

Yes, of course you can rent a car even just for 1 or 2 days.

However, in high season it’s worth booking in advance so you secure the better price and the availability of the car.

From our experience, the best is to book your car 1–3 months before your trip.

If you try to book too early (6–12 months ahead), that period is often not priced yet, so the prices can be higher.

You can pick up and drop off the car at several locations:

If your flight is delayed, the car rental company will wait for you.

If you know you’ll be more than 2 hours late or arrive on a different flight, let them know via WhatsApp or email.

If you arrive outside opening hours:

RentX: 08:00–19:00, pick-up outside these hours costs an extra 30 €.

Auto Canhas: 08:00–22:00, out-of-hours pick-up is available at no extra charge.

Rent-A-Car Madeira: 09:00–19:00, pick-up outside these hours costs an extra 25 €.

If you arrive during the night, with prior arrangement you can pick up the car in the early hours or the next morning.

If, because of the delay, you can’t pick up the car at all, our 1000 € guarantee covers the taxi from the airport to your accommodation and back to the rental office the next morning.
